Chamonix – a day in the sky

Today we took a day trip to Chamonix. I wanted to see Mont Blanc and Dominique wanted to be outdoors – and secretly wanted to do some hang gliding. We stuck to the cable car and taking photographs, but did see a hang glider.

The arrangements for summer tourists are well set up and gave us plenty of time to see the mountains as well as some intrepid climbers and some determined cross-country skiers. It was still pretty cold. Here are some of the things we saw.

The mountains

A sad looking Tongue Glacier

It is receding rapidly.

Walkers Climbers and Fliers

For me it is a spectator sport!

  1. A bracing day for you both! Spectacular views. I thought you might go hang gliding with a head mounted camera perhaps.
